The orphaned elderly of Kathamndu, abandoned by what family they have, faced with nowhere to go while shunned & unwanted by wider society are oft left at the gates of  Bridasharam, a makeshift retirement home fashioned from a Hindu Temple within the holy cremation grounds of Pashupati.

Housing over 200 people at any one time, the Bridashram will be the last journey undertaken by all who walk through its doors.

Circumstances are bleak, cramped living conditions alongside antiquated structures both cold in winter and porous to the monsoon rains only serve to exacerbate physical ailments and emotional distress. Nevertheless, occupants find solace through a shared sense of community, mutual social support and an innate bilateral faith that serves to retain a sense of pride and self for an otherwise forgotten people.
